I Stand Corrected

I may be a bit late for some of you, but I just saw a tidbit of the Star Wars DVD’s. I am borrowing them, and will watch them all the way through, but until I write that review on vagueidea, I thought to post here and let you all know that if you were even thinking of buying/renting/seeing these, you might just get pissed off.

When I heard that the DVD release was going to be the revised films, I was peeved. It would be easy enough to include the original version on the DVD, but George went ahead and made the choice for the rest of us. He also made some more choices. There are several, but I’m going to touch one. Again, a full report is coming, I just need to watch all the movies again.

Remember the Ewok celebration at the end of Jedi? The “Gyub gyub. Ginny, gyub gyub” song was changed into some feel good song while new footage was shown of all the cities that were celebrating the demise of the Death Star. In Coruscant they added the Jedi Council and Galactic Senate buildings in the back. That’s not the big problem. They added yet another city’s celebration to those previously added, Naboo. That’s not the big problem. Everyone is smiling and laughing, then Luke goes to a railing and looks out in reflective thought to see Yoda, Obi Wan, and his father, Anakin. They digitally replaced the original actor playing Anakin with Hayden Christensen. I repeat, THEY REPLACED THE ORIGINAL ANAKIN WITH HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN.

I was pissed enough when Greedo shot first, but this? It’s like I was once shown what was truly beautiful, then the one who showed me this beauty thought it might be a good idea to wipe his ass with it every 5 years or so. If it’s not some new revision, it’s a prequel that makes my eyes bleed.

George, I will watch these new films, but I’m fairly certain that afterwards I will humbly ask that you do yourself and the rest of the world a favor by allowing someone to rape you in the ass with that appliance that the guy in Se7en used for the sin of lust.
